Yoga classes for men in Perungalathur

The question we are asked most often by men on the phone is whether this is a women's class. It is not.

Three of the four batches are for everyone

The 5:30 am, 6:15 am and 5:00 pm batches are mixed — men, women and children on the mats together. Only the 10:00 to 11:00 am batch is women only. On a normal morning the room holds school boys, men heading to an office and retired members, all at whatever depth their body gives that day.

Most men arrive stiff. That is the point

A desk, a long commute up the GST Road and years of no stretching leave tight hips, a locked lower back and shoulders near the ears. You do not need to touch your toes to start. Nobody is pushed into a posture they are not ready for, and nobody is watching you.

If your goal is strength and stamina rather than flexibility, the practice runs faster and is built around sun salutations and standing sequences. Say so on your first day and the teacher builds it in.

Coming for a look

Batches run Monday to Friday at our hall in SSM Nagar, New Perungalathur, with a 3-day trial so you can sit in before deciding anything. We teach online as well, for weeks when the road wins.
