Yoga classes in Perungalathur and Tambaram

Four small batches a day, Monday to Friday, for ladies, gents and children. Most who join have never done yoga before; the practice is adjusted person by person.

Each batch has its own character. Pick the hour that suits your life — you can move between them when your week changes.

Today at the centre

Mon–Fri

Batches run Monday to Friday.

  • The early batch. Mostly people who want it done before the day starts.

  • Our busiest hour. Mixed ability and mixed ages, from school children to retired members.

  • Mid-morning, and women only. Popular with homemakers and anyone on a shift pattern.

  • The evening batch. A lot of school and college students come to this one.

Every batch is warm-up, asanas, pranayama and relaxation. Select a batch to see who it suits.

  • Four classes a day
  • Monday to Friday
  • Special care for women
  • Online and in person

A neighbourhood centre, not a fitness chain

Happy Yogis runs out of a hall in SSM Nagar, New Perungalathur. On any morning, school children, people on their way to work, homemakers and retired members share the mats. That mix is deliberate; it keeps the room relaxed.

Batches are small enough that the teacher knows what each person is working with — a bad knee, a desk job, a thyroid condition, a first week of yoga — and the practice is adjusted around that.

It does not matter whether you can put your leg behind your head. It matters that you turn up, breathe properly, and leave better than you walked in.

What we teach

All of it is taught inside the regular batches; there is no separate course to book. Tell us what you are working towards and the teacher builds it in.

  • Beginner yoga

Where you start if you have never held a pose. Standing postures and the breath, built slowly, never past what your body will do that day.

  • Flexibility and posture

Hip openers, hamstring work and spinal movement, for desk workers who arrive with a stiff neck and lower back.

  • Weight loss and stamina

A faster practice built on sun salutations and standing sequences, for losing weight and building stamina.

  • Yoga for seniors

Low-impact, with chair and wall support where it helps, for joint mobility and steadiness.

  • Meditation and pranayama

Breathing practice and seated meditation. Every batch ends with it; some students come specifically for it.

  • Yoga for women

Adapted around PCOD, thyroid, hormonal health and the menstrual cycle. The 10:00 am batch is women only.

  • Yoga for children

Children practise in the morning and evening batches alongside their parents — balance, concentration, and enjoying it.

  • Corporate and group sessions

For offices and residential associations, at your premises or online. Ask us for details.

Practising around a health condition

Many of our students come because a doctor suggested it. Tell us what you are dealing with before your first class, so the teacher can plan around it.

Yoga supports treatment; it does not replace it. If you are under medical care, please keep your doctor in the loop.

PCOD and hormonal health
Practice sequenced around hormonal balance, at a manageable pace.
Thyroid support
Breathing and movement chosen with thyroid health in mind.
Knee and joint pain
Low-impact work with support, so the knees are not loaded.
Back and spine
Posture correction and spinal strengthening for desk workers.
Pregnancy care
Prenatal practice, guided carefully and adjusted by stage.
Stress and sleep
Breathing and relaxation for students who arrive wound up or sleeping badly.

Karthika

Teaches every batch at the centre

Karthika has practised and taught yoga for more than ten years, and takes every batch at the centre herself.

She meets people where they are. Beginners are not pushed into postures they are not ready for, and anyone working around an injury or a health condition gets the practice adapted rather than being told to sit it out.

Before you join

No. Most people who join cannot touch their toes on day one. Flexibility is what the practice builds, not what it asks for.

Any of them. Every batch is mixed ability and the practice is adjusted person by person. Most beginners pick the 6:15 am or the 5:00 pm batch.

Yes. A 3-day trial lets you sit in on a batch before committing. Message us on WhatsApp and we will book you in.

Bring one for the trial if you have it. Once you join you can leave your mat at the centre rather than carrying it every day.

Wear something you can move in. Every student is given a Happy Yogis t-shirt to wear to class.

Yes. We teach both, and students move between them as their week allows — online sign-ups can come to the centre instead, and the other way round.

Both. Instructions are given in whichever language the batch is comfortable with.

Yes. The 5:30 am, 6:15 am and 5:00 pm batches are for everyone. The 10:00 am batch is women only.

Yes, children practise alongside their parents in the morning and evening batches.

In most cases yes, with the practice adapted. Tell us before you start, and check with your doctor if you are under treatment for anything.

Most students say they sleep better and feel less stiff within the first two or three weeks of practising regularly. Physical changes take longer.
